The skin starts to age at around 25 years. The connective tissue absorbs less moisture and cell production slows down. Wrinkles, in turn, are the result of reduced elasticity of dermal fibres. This is accompanied by a decreased tone of the tissues, for which the collagen fibres are responsible.
The effects of this process are most apparent on the face – the proverbial first wrinkles.
Acoustic waves stimulate fibroblasts deep within the skin to restore the production of collagen and elastin. They promote cell renewal to improve the density and elasticity of the skin, giving the skin a firmer and smoother look.
